We dont always see eye to eye, this much is true
Though I may be a disappointment, I really love you
I understand how you may think that I am mean
But I only want to spare you from seeing what Ive seen
I hope that one day you will be able to see
That I was simply trying so stop you from being like me
I know you say, "like you?" theres just no way
Keep that promise, I hope and I pray
I know right now you think it really sucks
To have two parents that care so much
If I had to trace it back to where it all went wrong
I would probably have to say, its when I was left all alone
Nobody took the time to show me the way
And you see all too well where that has gotten me today
I cant see the wrong in having high expectations
For a gifted child who had dreams and aspirations
I was never made to buckle down and tighten up
To be prepared for a life that would be tough
They say its better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all
Baby girl dont be afraid to try and fail, Ill pick you up if should happen to fall
Never believe that your best isnt good enough for me
Always shoot for the stars, even if you land in the trees
I can never turn back the clock and make things right
Know that my intentions are good, even when we fight
They say the path to Hell is paved with good intentions
So is raising a good kid, that one they forgot to mention
I will always love you , no matter what you do
You may not know it, but Ive always been proud of you
There isnt a thing you could do to change how I feel
Id stand by your side, even if you decided to steal
You will always be the princess of the castle of my heart
Maybe one day we can stop looking back, and make a new start
I will always have your back, and you will always be my baby
just because i want to protect you, doesnt mean Im crazy
There is a day coming in the future before to long
when you will look back and miss this, just like in the song
To make this long story short, what Im really trying to say
Is that I love you, yesterday, tomorrow, and every single day
If you take anything from this poem, besides all of my love
Is that before a baby bird learns to fly it usually gets a shove
I want you to fly high , and live out all of your dreams
I want you to have the best, all of those pretty little things
I dont know what else to say to make you see
that no matter what , you mean everything to me
