The Man who Lost His Place

The Man who Lost His Place

Life was in sync, I was maintaining the pace,
Things were great, until I lost my place,

I awoke that morning feeling confused and strange,
My image in the mirror seemed slightly rearranged!

Curious more than fearful, I examined the house,
Familiar things looked odd, like visitors unannounced,

What had happened?

Then I remembered stepping aside for only a moment,
I had exited the system like a missing component,

I had stepped aside for only an instance and lost my place,
My life had changed: Who or what had reconfigured my space?

Aha, but now I will watch things more closely and when the time is right,
I will slip back quietly into my safe, routine way of life..

Or maybe I won't!
