Driver of the Universe

Driver of the Universe

I'm the Driver of the Universe, headin' down the highway of life with my windows rolled down and my radio turned up loud!

Sometimes the signal fades as stations move in and out of range, but I control the volume and I control the speed,

It's up to me to navigate the notes, an octave or a rift, a blend of beats that create the tempo of the night,

The music of my life sets the course:  rock, classic, jazz, blues or country western?

I'm the conductor, the maestro, the radio of the universe responds to my slightest touch,

Ah! the signal's fading again, is it time to change direction or time to change the station?

It's up to me, the Driver of the Universe

The pedal's to the floorboard, the windows are rolled down, the cold wind stings my face and the music streams through my head, flowing into the night sky,

The Driver of the Universe speeds on!

Is this supposed to signify God? If so the idea is limited. The poem has little substance. Dig deeper into your creativity.

The poem signifies my feeling about life, I'm the Driver and music represents the energy of life and its infinite variety, being the Driver means taking control of one's life, the volume, the speed, the genre of music. We can either change course/direction when life is no longer challenging or exciting or we can change the channel and re-invent ourselves. But the bottomline is, it's a "Deterministic" Universe and we are the Driver, not vice versa. Thank you for your comment and I will check out your poems. Frank

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
