Shon and Gabriel
When I think about my life
Any difference I have made
by simply being a Mother and Wife
setting aside the plans I'd laid
Sometimes it feels like I copped out
of the future I had in sight;
Like somehow I dropped out
of the race I'd run so tight.
But then a thought comes to my mind
when I observe my fine young sons
what an unimagineable loss it would be
to have never known the ones
who are the very beat of my heart,
who bring me joy untold;
Who love me back with such devotion
and kisses not withhold
Now they pat me on the head
and joke 'Mom you're outta touch'
Oh my God how can I ever thank you
for these boys I love so much!
Any difference I have made
by simply being a Mother and Wife
setting aside the plans I'd laid
Sometimes it feels like I copped out
of the future I had in sight;
Like somehow I dropped out
of the race I'd run so tight.
But then a thought comes to my mind
when I observe my fine young sons
what an unimagineable loss it would be
to have never known the ones
who are the very beat of my heart,
who bring me joy untold;
Who love me back with such devotion
and kisses not withhold
Now they pat me on the head
and joke 'Mom you're outta touch'
Oh my God how can I ever thank you
for these boys I love so much!
