    If only
    You could understand
    What I’m saying to you
    What I mean
    When I ask you to listen

    If only
    You really were
    The person I thought
    You could be

    If only
    You hadn’t
    Lied to me
    Confused me
    Cheated on me
    Ripped my soul apart

    If only
    I had
    Another chance
    An opportunity
    For my life
    To be
    How I’d always dreamed
    It would be
    If only
    I could go back
    To yesterday
    To yesteryear

    If only
    I hadn’t said yes
    When I really meant no

    If only
    I hadn’t said
    ‘I do.’

    If only
    You couldn’t
    Control me

    If only
    I could be
    Anywhere but here

    If only
    I could
    Run away
    From you
    From here
    From everything

    If only
    I could
    Bring myself
    To walk away

    If only
    I didn’t
    Love you

    If only
    I didn’t
    Keep taking you back
    After you’d
    Lie
    Cheat
    Steal
    Leave
    And come back
    Begging me

    If only
    This could be
    – Dare I say it –
    Over
    Or better yet

    If only
    It had never begun.
