I am a stone.

    I am a stone.

We do not lose ourselves, as I once thought,
But rather- shift and shape beyond recognition.
Frequently and fluidly we take our course
Or we etch our beliefs solidly into stone.
I am a stone in your river.
You may shape my edges with your tears but no water
    Can change my mind.
    I will not be broken,
I will not stand before you without all of me to give.

How poingnant to revisit the idealism of youth in all of its adamancy! I wish you a future free from the erosion of all you hold dear.

Strength and passion, very well written.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
