Re: Epiphany: How can one wind up in Hell?Take a look at a book titled, "23 Minutes In Hell" or "Hell", both are by the same author. It really got me thinking. Keep smilin'. |

Re: Epiphany: How can one wind up in Hell? "23 MINUTES IN HELL," How do you process something like that? How much of what we understand is what we need to know to bring salt and light into this world? |

My mom, on the other hand, once she gets started on the subject, it's very uncomfortable because she doesn't take too kindly to any kind of questioning on things like this. As far as she's concerned, what's in the Bible is the pure truth and no one should question it. But I am a thinking human being, an intelligent human being, so YES, there are things that I naturally question and wonder about. What I AM curious about, however, is the full attack by "manifestations" that you underwent? Care to elaborate? ************************************************************************** Hi again, [pretty busy but I'm back again] . Thank you for your generous words usp lady. Here's a readers digest version of the issue. I had received the Holy Spirit into my life at a summer camp. Having looked at the pages of the bible on rare occasions previous to that I saw a buncha gobbly gook... and that was it. On that bright summer day in early August - right after I offered up a prayer to God I was undeniably changed on the inside. I began seeing people as important - where before I was the only important one on the earth. [That's of course the problem with most kids as a general rule.] The sky was an incredible blue, the greenery was out of this world with beauty ... and the words in the bible (which Mrs. Castleman told me I should read) were leaping out at me and took on a vital role of providing understanding of what the Spirit was doing. The stories of Jesus were alive for me for quite a while until I began not praying to God. [It was a wonderful time because he would tell me things in my spirit.] In the years I drifted away from wanting to be with God, I would have stressful occasions when I remembered Him and prayed for help. He always seemed to make me see that I had little to worry about. Then came the time of the longest night years later. I had been feeling lethargic and depressed for a while before this time. The idea of suicide seemed to be a rising choice now in my teen years. I recall pressing my head against the glass of the basement window and experiencing a desire to disappear. There was also a desire that came and went , wherewith I could sense the outside influence of someone or something wanting me to commit "emotional" suicide. I struggled with self pity and decided to let the entities do what they wanted. They (the three spirits) entered my mouth and ensconced themselves in the pit of my stomach. It was only later that I understood these things were the same ones that flew around the room at the other place I used to live three years earlier. At that time in a time of emotional upheaval they had filled me with fear. Disembodied heads racing around and like a dive bomber aircraft come right at me. It seemed somewhat interesting at first until they brought the heavy emotion with them each time they buzzed me. It was horrible! A taste of the HELL everyone is texting about. At the end of the ordeal I was curled up on the rug in a fetal position convulsing in fear. I can understand now. It's likely the same kind of fear they themselves must be experiencing while they wait for the end of time. In any event, a voice prompted me to call out to God. I did ... nothing changed, they kept coming. Eventually I yelled out "JESUS!" Woah! It was like a fiery torch in the face of a pack of wolves. They scattered. I no longer have the three entities I mentioned. They flew out a few years later when I began to believe I would take my life back. I have and the book is still being written. |

Although I am not a theological scholar, I do consider myself a Christian. And so, I do believe in a certain prescription for the faithful. That prescription is not subject to interpretation - no matter how badly people want to change it to make allowances for themselves. Whether I am a good Christian or not remains to be judged by the only One who can. I could digress into more detail, but in the end it all comes down to what you believe. I have never subscribed to the fire and fury theory of my Baptist background. My own opinion is that much of the Bible is allegorical. I feel much of the Bible was written in a way to inform the way a parent might explain to a child so the child understands. (Imagine Einstein trying to explain the theory of relativity to a three-year old) ?? Hell, as I think it might be, would be different to everyone who must suffer there. A place, or state of mind, that is absent of the things we say we treasure - love and hope. If you are a "believer" - resurrection is certain - where you wind up is the question. Edit: 4/9 Just a note of clarificaton as I understand it - God is about judgment, Christ is about redemption. Faith is a personal thing so I do not discuss unless the subject is brought up "in front" of me. If you believe that Christ is God's son, and that He was essentially sacrificed as the greatest gift offered to you and you reject the gift....... ??? I do not dwell on the subject. I'm done. |

Re: Epiphany: How can one wind up in Hell?I am one who believes in Heaven and Hell but not as most people. I don't know much about Heaven and don't think there are alabaster mansions and gold streets. It is where God exists and where believers in Him go. They simply spend eternity with God after the resurrection of the faithful. Those who do not believe in God simply did and are forever are without the presence of God. I don't have to be scared into believing that there is some place of torture where I will go if I don't believe in God. If we believe in God, there is no need to fear death. If we don't believe in God, we live without Him, just as we did in life. Everlasting life begins when we first believe, so death is a trasition for believers. |

Re: Epiphany: How can one wind up in Hell?I think before we can determine how one can "wind up in hell", we'd have to agree on what hell is. I think there may be a lot of differing ideas. |

As we die, we are said to "go to the light." The only thing we can concentrate on while dying is going to the light, so how can we have a choice? It's the only thing we're even aware of at the moment, as far as I've read. So someone say something. How can macabre visions of being chained up in a fiery well-like furnace, in an abyss of darkness, which can't be, considering the glow from the aforementioned flames, being raped or such by demons or having the flesh rend from your body and instantly heal again... how can that be an accurate depiction of what true Hell is? We say our days have been hell, but in reality, it just didn't go our way. It was uncomfortable, miserable, unplanned, and just not fair. Regardless of books you read, I believe God has a different plan for those who defy his word and live for themselves. I don't believe the creator of all has enough empathy nor apathy for the concept of a live-action Hell. Dungeon of fiery, eternal despair and torment. I don't believe the concept to be as solid as it sounds, even if it's in another dimension or on the astral plane. About that comment, "I don't believe the creator of all has enough empathy nor apathy for the concept of a live-action Hell" was over the top. I meant that He knows that Hell as we know it is NOT productive, and there is no lesson to be learned from it. God is about judgment and redemption, I think, not torment and sadism. Re: Epiphany: How can one wind up in Hell?I don't want to cause a commotion, or an uproar, or a ruckus, or any other number of words that can describe the possible reaction to what I am about to say...but in the last 2 weeks, a close friend of the family died, and this morning, 2 weeks to the day, the young man's stepfather died, leaving his family even more devastated than before...this has seriously tested my belief in any kind of God, merciful, vengeful, or whatever...what was the point??? Two senseless deaths, a family overwhelmed by grief, all in a period of 2 weeks...the young man who died left behind a very young wife and a baby girl...where is the sense, the order in such things??? And my main question is, where was God??? Where IS God, at this point??? |

Re: Epiphany: How can one wind up in Hell?I am sorry for your loss and confusion. The reality of life is there is no replacement for our physical death. We face death every day with every breath we take as an individual! Animals don't shake their fist at God we do, thus a line is drawn as to You know God or no God. |

RE: Epiphany: How can one wind up in Hell? How can one end up in hell? simple by not accepting jesus as thier Lord and saviour. you dont have to be the world's number one sinner to end up in hell, you just have to be one. |
