Daddy’s Girl
Long past I was her knight of shining white.
One day I lost her Pocahontas kite.
I was her friend, the best guy alive.
She trusted me to teach her how to dive.
On my shoulders at the swimming pool,
Hope she thought I was big daddy cool.
I would give her the sun, the stars, the moon
She graduates on this very day in June.
In a blink onto life she will lead,
She knows how we want her to succeed.
Soon off to college to get her special spark,
She’ll always have a place in her daddy’s heart.
