Can't Stand.

Can't Stand.

Honestly,
When i see you
My stomach twists and turns
My whole entire composure falls to pieces
I can not stand to even look at you
All I can remember is what you put me through
I was utterly confused
Not knowing what to do
I once heard someone say
Just turn her into poetry
So thats what I am doing
Now that i can stand to write
I want to scream and yell
You were never right
Did it feel good to see me cry?
Are you happy with this goodbye?
Well I don't want to see you or hear you
But I can't let go of you
Or even stand you.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
