A rose by any other name...
There's the inevitable question:Is there a chance that they're right?
I've felt infatuation before (quite recently, I would wager)
And this is different. Much different.
Are there levels of infatuation?
(Infatuation being defined as a deep and intense
Admiration and connection.)
Can you be infatuated with
Someone's soul?
With the way they make your day brighter
Just by being part of it?
The way in which they dance?
Can I be infatuated with someone's character?
How about the way they choose to express their opinions?
The heartfelt and genuine compliments
They know exactly when to slip in?
The innocent way in which they mumble in their sleep?
Their words drifting off, endearments to remain unknown.
If that's infatuation, then by all means;
I'm guilty, as charged.
(Though I must argue one part of the definition:
"Temporary"
The word is so bitter and stinging,
It represents the opposite of how I feel.
No.
This is not temporary.
I can tell you that with confidence.)
But I would (dare to) say that most people
(Whether Christian or not)
Would put a different name to it.
Because:
It's not all lust.
It's not all physical.
It's patient and kind.
It's not jealous or boastful.
It isn't proud or rude.
It's slow to anger and keeps no record of wrongs.
It doesn't delight in evil, but rejoices in truth.
It protects and trusts.
It always has hope and never gives up.
And
It will not fail.
I call that love.
So, if I take my definition from the bible,
Where do you get yours?
