Unrequited
She raised him from the graveA personality; one of many
that's been crushed by another
but somehow she could save
The weathered, road worn face
reawakens from its slumber
the iron horse awaiting his return
to seek his love in tattered lace
The steed thunders increasing speed
headed toward his singer beloved
The dirty road house blues at dusk
only fueling the consuming need
the dim, smoky room brings him in
She is onstage with longing in her voice
Eyes closed and dreaming of him;
Her unrequited love, her cowboy in sin
Unrelenting longing for that past lament
opened the eyes and brought him in
The cowboy meets her gaze and they lock
A sharp inhale for a fleeting moment
The night has ended; she is all he can see
Hummingbird on her back, she climbs up
To ride into the night with her love
on the iron horse with the one she calls Three.
