Traveller
He came to town one dayNeeded a place to stay
Hotels were all booked up
Boy, he'd run outta luck
I said I had an extra room
Had a bed, a lamp and a loom
He said that's great and thanks
Had nothin' outta army ranks
Gave him a ride in my old pick-up truck
He said I was his charm of luck
We laughed and listened to country songs
To my suprise, he sang along
Intense blue eyes starin' at the sky
Hand made a move to find my thigh
I held it there as tight as I could
I said "don't let go", he said "never would"
Tolds me his name was Charlie but he preferred Chuck
As we climbed outta my decrepit truck
Red paint chippin' off the sides
He kissed my hand, my lips, my eyes
I asked him to never let me go
He said "baby, never could, you know"
Took my hand and I led him inside
Cheery songs the bluebirds cried
Up the steps to the green porch swing
We knew we had way more than a fling
I'd never believed in love at first sight,
But inside me, he set my heart alight.
