To The Tree, God Gives
With a quiet voiceHe commands
the tree, with all its parts,
root and trunk and leaf with its seed
To come into being
with His skillful hand
He places the sun in the heavens
to shine its rays upon it
And with His finger
He draws in the clouds
to rain upon its branches
and the ground around it
And as He's embracing the tree
in His loving arms
He's giving it the birds of the air
for company
and to give a sense of purpose
in supporting their homes
in its limbs
And he gives the ever ready squirrel
who buries its seed in the earth
as winter food
Yet come spring it is now really a
sapling
If God does all of this for a tree
Just think what He's doing
For you and me
