The American Flag

A deep silence covers the land.
Citizens, strangers, old and young
Began to listen and stand at attention
As the drummers beat out their appointed
Tune.
Awesome music fills the air;vibrating
Enthusiam everywhere.
What is it they see? why will they stand?
Its old glory;the flag of our nation.
It represents our freedom;the love,
One nation under god!
Greatness;gentleness,equality for all.
Our men and women who gave willingly
Their all.
So don't forget as time passes us by
What it stands for now;and the momemt it began to fly.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
