The Dragonfly
one magic day through sunset rays
and gorgeous billowed cloud displays,
I chanced to spot a dragonfly
mere inches from my eyes.
for reasons I had yet to know
I uttered forth a soft "Hello",
then waved my hand to gesture so
and much to my surprise,
with wings of high velocity,
and patient curiosity,
it hovered even closer by
to show I’d gained its trust.
within its bright and knowing eyes,
I touched on something old and wise,
then spoke about life’s beauty,
and the beauty in us all.
the seconds seemed as moments,
as it chose to not depart.
it lingered for that precious time
I’ll carry in my heart.
by touching one another’s souls
and briefly sharing inner roles,
there came a lesson to explore,
"what life is truly granted for".
for on that day a bond was made,
life’s curtain drew, the parts were played.
one creature and one open man
were graced to touch the master plan.
