    Poem Commentary

Freedom is not free, thanks for everyone who ever served in the military.

    The CALL

    Although it was never audible,
I heard the Call To Serve.
It whispered to me on the winds
    That foretold of a War.
    Though my time was short
And Combat never did I see,
I stood ready to stand and fight
In defense of what makes us Free.
Now I am but a veteran,
    Like many who came before.
Yet I am glad I answered
    That silent Call.

I love your poem! I have such great respect of all who fight for our freedom. As you say in your commentary, "Freedom is not free". Thank you for your sacrifice.

To have great poets there must be great audiences too.
