Take Me Down
Take Me Down
By
Kelly M. Kirkpatrick
Rushing down neon avenues,
Looking for the question
In your eyes,
Waiting for the afternoon,
Sharing life,
Just me and you,
I realized what I had to do.
Call me stupid.
Call me fool.
Call me later;
We'll play some pool.
The moment was playing on my mind.
Picasso morning
Taking shape;
Cool breezes whisper
Of the innocent rape
Of one man's emotions -
No escape.
Take me down.
Teach me how to be alive.
Take me down.
It's not enough just to survive.
Take me down.
Let me know when you've arrived.
Take me down.
She plays with foolish innuendo.
She recognizes life for what it is -
A never ending cycle
Of victory by surrender.
She plays.
She walks.
She wins.
She lives.
I must say she is not fit for a pretender.
Time escapes both me and you.
The moment is not over,
No sounds, no empty words.
Complacent fear,
A bogus friend,
If I'm allowed,
I do intend
To make full use the love she lends.
Do not incite me;
I am not wise
To your condition,
No compromise,
But if you're straight,
And if you're true,
I'm willing to make a deal with you.
Take me down.
Let me see you compromised.
Take me down.
It may not be my demise.
Take me down.
I want surrender in your eyes.
Take me down.
The marionette
Cuts it's strings
And dances in the street.
He was not
Happy with his employer.
The city bathed
In pastel shades
Was fit for his retreat.
He thought he might just
Hire himself a lawyer.
Faded Rose's love affair
Was beginning to give way
To a life without a son or daughter.
The mirror lied,
Or she thought it did.
She could not see
The truth it hid.
Time wasn't passing;
It had caught her.
This is not the fate for me.
I'm trying to deny
The charges which befit
A mortal.
Pride is easy.
Talk is cheap.
You are the one
With whom you sleep.
Is she fun, or is she moral?
Take me down.
Time is coming to an end.
Take me down.
I will always be your friend.
Take me down.
If not, then let's pretend.
Take me down.
