Dark Horizons
Dark Horizons
by
Kelly M. Kirkpatrick
Do not fear the dark horizons;
They are just the edge of night.
Go gentle into dark horizons;
Allow the dying of the light.
What have we learned; what have we gained?
What we have built will not remain.
Standing brave beneath the stars,
We tell the story, who we are,
But yet the song remains the same.
Go to sleep, you're only dreaming.
From this life, you're sure to wake
To a world of wonder and redemption.
Reality was yours to make.
The rules of ritual and seduction
May be the same for those who choose to see.
The answer is always in becoming.
The question is: "Will you let it be?"
We should embrace the dark horizons
And seek shelter in the night,
For we are blessed by our creation
With this momentary light.
What is the truth; do you believe?
Is it our fate to be deceived?
We are both masters and the fool.
We are but slaves and yet we rule.
How are we to be perceived?
Once again we are beginning
To lift our eyes and seize the day.
We accept the ever-changing seasons,
But we have yet to change our ways.
Night is soon to be upon us.
Silence says more than we could say.
The hour has come for our confessions
As the curtain closes on this passion play.
Recognize the dark horizons
For they are mirrored in our souls.
We must give light to dark horizons
And realize we're less than whole.
