Stepchild
Acorns fall in her hands but on my head.
wading through tangled cord webs of curling irons
quaking thoughts of Girlchild
as she controls life of indefinite, destiny dependence
her wishes continue
Power shutting out the other but not the one
her boots, heavy at the backdoor
never leaving or giving
no rest or strength for the wicked
her wishes continue
Salty Funyons in green bags
special Pepsi and the rest of the best
melting my presence
in fogs of hairspray, nail polish, and perfumes
her wishes continue
Endless chatter ringing off the walls of no rules
closing her door after hours
while I wait in blame
her wishes continue, reminding me---
She's no child of mine.
