Somebody (full)
The eerie scene in front of me
Displaced by the foggy glass
Calls me forward into my
Displaced motion of feeling.
You saw me as you walked past
Tired and heavy
From a long adventure,
Your eyes passed through me
As if I were your mere reflection
Exhibiting the nights obstacles.
I never saw you enter
But knew you were here
Looking for something
Or someone
Yes I am the one in the window
The one that you chose
Chose to gaze upon amongst
All those busy shells
Marching on as they were told to
The air around me is weighing
Down with every breath
That is full of something to say
I remain at this window
Waiting for your eyes to spot
Something of what you were
Searching for
As you passed by earlier
The look of confusion on your face
Twisted my hopes of recognition
Oh what I would give
To be the one you sought out
On that rainy afternoon
The mascara tracks that quickly raced
Down your cheeks painted a picture
Of self destruction in love
A picture of self discovery in denial
A picture of self worth in empty space
Your essence drifted on the air
And danced with every sense
Inside of me
Would you ever know me
Would my ears ever be serenaded
By your story
Would your look of desperation
Ever be satisfied by the catching
Of my eye what can I say
To show you my desolate spirit
Would you just see me as a stranger
Or realize I am the one standing up
Standing next to you
Holding you in my arms
And telling you everything will be alright
A chance missed
an opportunity drowned
A heart sank
The words were nowhere to be found
Just before you step outside
And leave me here
Holding these possibilities
I find these words
These words that feel so perfect
These words that sound so sweet
They explode inside of me
And bring me to my feet
As every breath is silently
Taken from all others in the room
You paused, door knob in hand
As the words pierced your beautiful sorrow
My heart came out with such force
The walls vibrated with every sound
“Wait… there is something you need to know!”
You looked eagerly on
Time froze as you waited to hear
My solemn words that followed
I took a deep breath and swallowed all fear
I trapped my previous words in
And blinked…
Displaced by the foggy glass
Calls me forward into my
Displaced motion of feeling.
You saw me as you walked past
Tired and heavy
