Mommy's Down
I awake to cries echoing in my ears
I try and try but cannot fight back my tears
My body badly beaten and bruised
My life as I know it has been ripped to shreads
And I wish that I were among the dead
My child screams into the night
As I lift myself up off the ground
Where the one who said he loved me beat me down
I see my child standing on the front porch
The beautiful thing in his t-shirt and shorts
Crying for his mommy to come rescue him
I try but I cannot rise up from the earth
So very dazed and confused I am
So I call my little one to me
He climbs down the porch and toddles toward me
My son, come to me my baby boy
Momma's okay, see she's happy now
Climb into her arms and comfort her
For you are all she has left in this world.
