    Mistress

She stands back in the shadows created by the light just waiting for me to leave, she's a thief in the night.

As I walk away and out the door
You shout her name as your feet hit the floor.

She watches me go as she moves so very slow to the home I created and enters the door.

You grab her pulling her into a warm embrace.
One soft wet kiss and a smile paints your face.

Your heart so confused and torn into...
My wife will be home soon...what shall I do?

She walks and leaves you again..
Back to the shadows...Oh what a sin.

She will return again when day turns to dusk..
She thrives on deception and all the mistrust.

Her name is mistress and what a woman she is ...
For her heart is the one thing she never gives

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
