Grandma's Words
You ask me why I turned my back
And hardened up my heart,
Well, let me go back several years
To where the pain would start.
I was just a little girl
sitting on my grandma's knee,
She'd tell me little stories
And said someday you'll see.
She'd tell me life's not easy
no matter what path you take,
But in your life you'll learn my dear
It's the decisions that you make.
I raised you to believe in God
And sing his words of peace,
And if you trust within his words
His love will never cease.
Just ask for help and he'll be there
To guide you along the way,
But when I asked for grandma's life
He decided to take her away.
My life is only hardened
By the lies been told to me,
A wall's around a beaten heart
I know that you can't see.
So yes I hide despair and pain
And bury it deep inside,
For me it's just the safest way
When I need to run and hide.
