RE: The History Of Original Poetry's First Two Years.I am curious as to what the projected growth is here - I had no idea this was a new site when I signed on in June 2009. It struck me as well established. So, based on how much growth (number of members) since the the beginning, how big is OP getting? |

RE: RE: The History Of Original Poetry's First Two Years.Quote: I'm still soaking up all your questions, should have a write up for you early next week. Let me answer the growth question though. Our Alexa rank is actually VERY good in the grand scheme of things. Considering we're not getting national press, or targetting every single person in the world with a generic theme, we're doing pretty good. Growth is averaging 15 new members per day. We're currently at 41,500. For most of the summer, growth was 1-2 per day. There are sides to that. One, it was summer... people were out rather that on the internet. Two, we weren't doing anything really interesting on promoting the site. The newsletter is still dull, but that will change. The fanpage is much better, we've made it more interesting, and we've built up twitter (@origpoetry) and have been posting to it regularly. Interactive stuff, poems, quotes, etc. Stuff people like, not just "Come to our web site!". So with all that said... projected growth? 5,000 new people per year at the current pace. That will increase though. Keep it all coming! -Papa Paczki |

RE: The History Of Original Poetry's First Two Years. The History of any site or subject is in it's people, for with out our stories there would not be an OP. For me it was seeing an add on Facebook, and finding a place to express my self, and share with many wonderful and gifted writers who also wanted and needed a site for this very purpose, Op's history is our story, and the comments we share in support of one another, even our miss spelling and word choices. I am very grateful and thankful to have a place to come to and read and share what my heart see's and feel's, and I enjoy the many friends I have found through OP. thanks to all who make up Op, Alan |

RE: The History Of Original Poetry's First Two Years. My feeling is that OP is the "FaceBook" of poetry sites being that there are no other poetry sites offering this level of socializing between so many poets. |

Question: Before the site make-over, there used to be a weekly spotlight on one poet. I enjoyed this because it gave us "inside" information on the poet's habits as a writer and as a thinker. Will this feature return? Yes! I want to bring it back. I just ran out of people, and then got a few hundred things thrown on my shoulders. Maybe we should start a list, and I can resume them. -Papa Paczki |

RE: The History Of Original Poetry's First Two Years.History is great information but now is the first day to the future that is to become our present. Together we unite as poets of the future, together we become one voice, together we can make a difference... Purity of the soul, journey well!!! with grace and humility ANGEL- POB for life! aka A blind man walking... |

RE: The History Of Original Poetry's First Two Years.Having been a long standing member of several poetry sites over time, I must say upon joining OP, immediately I knew this brainchild poetry site is the most cutting edge site available for poets from all walks of life around the world. The word exciting, barely scratches the surface when one describes the unadulterated enjoyment many poets experience here! I strongly feel I speak for many that are not heard from.Thank you OP! |

RE: The History Of Original Poetry's First Two Years.I'll be posting something on this soon, just waiting for anymore questions to come in. I want to try and hit as many at once as I can. |

George, I agree that it would be "boring to some", that's a given, but most people enjoy history and backgrounds, and to have it in the second volume as a bonus read would be wonderful. You have joined this thread a couple of times but have not presented any questions, and I am sure you have at least one brilliant one. Go ahead and ask it ! |

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.
