billionaires in bentonville
small town america, today......
sidewalks poured half a century ago,
show their age, cracked, weeds grow.
once colored with the pastels and promise of spring;
now shiver in hues of browns and grey,
muddied in cold late autumn tears.
windows boarded up,
a testament to opportunity lost.
replaced with minimum wage, part time.
governments both local and national,
making back room deals with short term gains
while a mortgage is signed on our futures.
goods made elsewhere, but cheap;
consigned to shelves, most cannot reach.
as our way of life is foreclosed on,
because we all believed the lie.....
"Save money, Live better"
spawned by the billionaires in bentonville!
sidewalks poured half a century ago,
show their age, cracked, weeds grow.
once colored with the pastels and promise of spring;
now shiver in hues of browns and grey,
muddied in cold late autumn tears.
windows boarded up,
a testament to opportunity lost.
replaced with minimum wage, part time.
governments both local and national,
making back room deals with short term gains
while a mortgage is signed on our futures.
goods made elsewhere, but cheap;
consigned to shelves, most cannot reach.
as our way of life is foreclosed on,
because we all believed the lie.....
"Save money, Live better"
spawned by the billionaires in bentonville!
