BEACH .. OCEAN .. SEAGULLS
I'd rented a bachelor apartmentOnly place i could find for a reasonable price
It was almost nice
Came with a bed, table, and refrigerator
Fridge was rusted
Looked like moth holes eaten in the metal
I'd plugged it in .. couldn't believe it worked
Sputtered, whined, began to hum
I'd pondered if it was held together
By previous tenant's chewing gum
Ugly, faded off white .. brownish orange
I'd rushed to the hardware store
Purchased brushes and paint
Filled a coffee can with gasoline for thinner
Soon i'd returned and had begun painting
A lady artist i'd dated .. knocked
After she'd entered .. laughed .. stated
The fridge looked like a real winner
How i'd loved her outlandish humor
She'd voluntarily taken over
Relieved .. i'd watched in awe
A mural had formed from her creative strokes
First a dark red background
Then a yellow moon .. or was it a golden sun ?
She'd taken a break .. i'd filled it with beer
The handle had broken in my hand
She'd then applied
Her abstract .. finishing touches
Beach .. ocean .. seagulls
