...And I'll Talk
Tonight, I’ll talk about good things. I’ll talk about dreams. I’ll talk about heartbreak and despair. And I’ll talk about settling, finally, accepting.
And then I’ll talk about miracles. I’ll talk about faith. And mostly, about love.
I’ll talk about that sparkle in my eye – the one I’ve never seen.
I’ll talk about willpower and belief and simply, hanging on. I’ll talk about reaching. Searching and trying. And then I’ll talk about lowered voices, shifted eyes, the soft “we’re sorry, we’ve done all we can.”
And I’ll talk about the creation of my gem. I’ll talk about that brilliant diamond that sparkled in the sky when they told me I’d somehow found a miracle.
I’ll talk about the flame of the topaz that warmed my body and babe. And then I’ll talk about the ruby tears that flowed from that body and eyes.
And I’ll talk about the cold blue flame as the sapphire’s determination and hope took over.
And, finally, I’ll talk about the creation of my jewel, my emerald, vibrant with life.
My child, my miracle, my gem that’s put a sparkle in my eyes – the one I’ve never had to see.
