They call me a drifter with no place to call my home.
They throw me around like a rolling stone.
They find me different than the rest.
They have tested me and I have past every test.

I don't know why I have made it this far.
At night I still make a wish upon the first star.
My Michelle, you gave me hell.
    Maddie, you cast a spell.

Off to the wilderness is where I am best.
I am off on a journey, another quest.
I take with me my best friend.
My dog and I until the end.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
