    You Took Nothing From Me

Really? Is that all you can say?
You broke my heart when it got lost on it's way.
    But all you do,
    is say adue,
    and throw your problems away.
    How ignorant and blunt,
    you go for a hunt,
    searching for a temporary "toy,"
    you're a typical boy.
    I'll watch my sun set,
and do I blink an eye?
    No, I watch it through,
    without a single sigh.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
