    What is Man?

What is man that you are mindfully of him?
What is Life that we value it so?
Its pains and sorrows only grow this ever present circle that only serves to return us to them.

Why then do we fight so hard?
Why then do we run so far?
Why then do we strive to hold on?

    Why not LET GO?

Its easier than striving for the far impossible,
Easier than falling short of the easily probably,
Easier than constant toil and trouble.

    Why not let go?
Why not let go of the chaos and the strife of a life you never much liked?
    Why not hand it over?

What are the lures of the failures you hold so close?
What is there in them to boast?
You hide them from the world, why not bid them gone and refined your song?

For a time you'll feel better,
For a time you wont mind.
But the question will not leave you for you won't leave it behind.

It will find you again and drag you down,
down to the ocean floor to drown,
adding weight around your neck to ensure you can't get back.

    Why settle to ever toil?
Why sit and wait as we boil?
Why drive the knife through our back...why try and take it back?

Face up to what you are!
    Cringe, shout, curse and swear.
See what can cure your sorrow,
Let it fade into the marrow.

Is there any hope as we ready our rope,
to hang ourselves on our ever present strife?
A knife in the dark, an unpleasant shock to the heart.

    WAKE UP!

    Pound your chest,
    Tear at your eyes,
Why so amazed to realize you life in naught but lies?

    You've known it all along,
that you sung a phony song
    None of it your own.
You've lost it all down to the last tone.

So why do we fight so hard?
Why the do we run so fast?
Why then do we strive to hold on
And don this life we loath?

    Let it go
    Give it to Him
    he will take your load.

But you wont you'll hold on to it, pity yourself and die here smiling at you pain... wishing for more.

unfortunately the original structure cannot be seen here thus it my seem chaotic. The poem hinges on that structure and much is lost due to this point.

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
