The Torn Princess
There once was a princess that lived by the sea-
Young, beautiful and naive as could be
What seemed like prince charming swept her off her feet,
She ignored the claims of lies, warnings and deceit
He made her body tremble, and gave her a new life
Blinded by love was she, yet to know wrong from right
A young prince was born, and her life revolved around him
While the couples union was blessed and no longer a sin
Years went by, as the princess began to age
She realized he harbored much anger and rage
Infidelity lingered within the seemingly perfect state,
Appearances deceiving, as emotions laid in wait
The princess was no longer happy, and made it quite clear
Out of spite he would bring anger and immortal fear
She wondered what life was like after, to not live in pain
The people blamed her, called her names in vain
Though if they only knew, what harbored deep within the walls
If only they could talk, they would reveal it all
The young prince began to see despair on his mothers face,
No longer happy, nor full of splendor and grace
Time lingered on and the princess tired of it at last-
They judged and questioned, Was she taking this too fast?
Could she trust another? Could she walk away?
Was life worth living? Was it worth dying this way?
The clouds began to clear, and her life came in view
No longer was she imprisoned, She was to start a new
No happily ever afters, no death do them part
Only what could have been, and a princesses' broken heart
