Summer Day
It was a day like any other
So warm and so clear
Like any other summer
As the solstice drew near
And like any other summer
The day lived on long
Fading out like the chorus
Of a favorite song
And as the shadows grew darker,
And no sunbeams were left,
My baby, oh my darlin'
Drew her very last breath
Goodbye my sweet baby
Goodbye my sweet love
Oh everyone knows
Angels belong up above
One day I'll reach you
In that heavenly blue
Just wait a while longer
I'll be there real soon
It's been a while since
And I still feel so sad
How was I to know
It would hurt this bad?
Death doesn't discriminate;
All is eventually lost -
Claimed like autumn's harvest
To winter's early frost
Now the months grow warm
And sleepless here I lay
Wishing for the rest
Of a nice summer day
And when the day fades
Into ever-growing night
Oh, I will be ready
To follow the light
Goodbye my sweet baby
Goodbye my sweet love
Oh everyone knows
Angels belong up above
One day I'll reach you
In that heavenly blue
Just wait a while longer
I'll be there real soon
Just wait a while longer
I'll be there real soon
