Single Mama's
SINGLE MAMA’S
Time to get up, 5:30 in the morning
Dreading getting out of bed
And getting your day going
First stop is the bathroom
Before yelling for the kids
Then a stop to the mirror
Thanking God you’re here.
Still feeling gloomy
Trying to match up something to wear
Mad as hell with your clothes
Because you wore them last year
Mind is going thinking about the kids
And what there going to wear
Still looking in the mirror worrying about your un-permed hair
Brushing your teeth
Hoping you can bleach
From the plaque and cigarettes stains
That build up underneath
Washing your face with that Proactive
Dreaming that you look like one of those actresses
Not enough money to get new makeup
So you use Vaseline for lips
Mascara for your eye lashes
And now you feel made up
Picking out your shoes
Gives you the blues
Taps came off and the heels look chewed
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The kids are now at your door
Yelling for their mama
To put on their clothes on
Not enough food in the house
To give them a good breakfast
So you hand them both bananas
And one gets their behavioral medicine
Already running an half an hour late
Hoping your boss is not in
Seeing you constantly late
First stop at the nursery
Next stop at the elementary
Hoping they both have a good day
And not bring their teachers misery
Finally on your way to the J.O.B.
You pop your Mary J in jam to the beat
Can’t stop for breakfast because you’re already late
Half a tank of gas
Hoping you make it through the day
Checking the balance on your child support card
Hoping baby daddy dropped you some money
So you and the kids can ball
Stuck on the freeway
In a traffic jam
Mind going a mile a minute
Thinking about the past
Praying to lord to get you through
Praying for your loves ones
And every single mama too!
Time to get up, 5:30 in the morning
Dreading getting out of bed
And getting your day going
