"For a Day"

"For a Day"

Today I'm all yours

I have dishes to clean

and jeans

clothes to be put away

and so many bills and papers

to sort and to store in their

proper drawers and places

but today, anyway,

today,

I'm all yours.

So, let's go to the playground!

You can slide down the slide,

or we can sit in the sun

if you like

for a while

side by side.

because when I grow grey

and you learn to fly

no longer a child

I want to remember

these warm summer days

when I didn't put those clothes away

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
