Paradise

How can i tell him that the Paradise he longs for is not the reality of Paradise?

the palm trees that sway might come crashing down on his head

the winds that blow doesnt always send a chill down the spine

and the waters that beckon invitingly can become treacherous

...the tides may bring in malordourous refuse

Paradise only exists in the imagination

and can be created amidst the

industrial waste and effluent

race wars and riots

foreclosures

economic ruin

idiotic public utterances from politicians

and their even more asinine policies

and may

but

just for a fleeting moment

exist in the arms of a woman who loves you

now

that is.....Paradise

awesome. i have been to so called "paradise" and have been quite disappointed. disappointed because the paradise that the brochures advertise cannot compare to my own mind. i love this poem/story and i agree.

Reality is the eyes open, not able to hold what you see or hear. The love of another shared can both be held and heard without seeing ... that is paradise. Nice write, be well k

I completely agree! Paradise is found within. I also agree that it exists in the arms of a loving woman. Excellent write.

I like the way you have included not only the dreams and inspirations of needs and desires... but the [sometimes] unpleasant reactions of harsh life... and yet, throughout the whole of being... you nailed a beautiful piece of paradise... in the arms of one's love....

truthful, honest, and deeply spiritual in its understanding of reality. BRAVO !!!!!!!

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
