"No Longer There"

At times I sit and wonder,
Is it a spell that she has you under?

It is hard to understand why you are drawn to her and away from me,
I wish it was you and me the way it used to be.

I miss our talks late at night,
They say they know you love me, are they right?

At times when we're together we lock eyes and stare,
But then she comes around and it's as though I'm no longer there.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
