My Thoughts Takes Wings

As I lay my head upon my bed,
Settling in for the night,
My thoughts takes wings,
Of things unseen taking,
Me on a celestial flight.

While soaring around above,
The ground I can see a,
Wonderful delight there,
Are angels so fair,
Flying through the air.

Teaching me to do what's right,
I can see in the distance,
A beautiful bright light,
It's the light of a man as he stands,
With beckoning hands filled with,
Love and compassion for mankind.

Having a gleam and a glitter shinning bright,
His strength and courage giving clarity,
As I look into his caring eyes,
Then I realize he the man,
With nail scared hands beckoning me.

To take flight going to a land,
Not made by mortal man,
There is milk and honey,
My home on the other side.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
