Mindless Abyss

    Mindless Abyss

    Away in a prison cell
    A restless heart lies
Confined less by the concrete walls
Than the constant reminder of downfalls

    Away in a prison cell
    A guilty conscience lingers
    Comsumed by inner confliction
    Through the pain of self-conviction

    Away in a prison cell
    A broken soul searches
    Torn by sin within
    Never which did heart intend

    Away in a prison cell
    A helpless life is yearning
    Longing for the warm embrace
    Of freedom's long lost face

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.
