I went to the Moon

I went to the Moon

Last year I took a very long trip.
I went to the moon in my spaceship.
After arriving, I went exploring and I found the American flag.
But something almost happened that would've been a drag.

I met some aliens that had moved there.
When I learned of their plans, I was scared.
They had decided to destroy our place of birth.
They were going to use their weapons to destroy the Earth.

But what those aliens didn't know was that I had weapons too.
I zapped them with my laser gun and they melted into goo.
When I told people that I saved the world, they said that I lied.
But I saved you and everybody else and that can't be denied.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
