Hurricane Katrina
I grew up in New OrleansIt was the only life that I knew
Our city was a city of lights
Jazz bands
The Blues
Mardi Gras was a site to see
Floats,bands,beads
Then one day we were hit by a storm
That took away all our needs
The storm was named Katrina
Biggest one that we've had
I'll never forget that day
I didn't think it would be that bad
Our levee's broke
Homes destroyed
Everything we owned was gone
The screams and cries
Were way to much to bear
While people waited for help
It seemed that no one cared
So i got down on my knees
And prayed for help that day
I knew God would answer
Everything would be ok
I never will forget
The echo's of our cries
This poem is in memory
Of those who lost there lives
And died
