GUIDANCE: GOD, YOU AND I DANCE

When I meditated on the word Guidance,
I kept seeing " dance" at the end of the word.
I remember reading that doing God's will is a lot like dancing.
When two people try to lead, nothing feels right.
The movement doesn't flow with the music,
and everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky.
When one person realizes that, and lets the other lead,
both bodies begin to flow with the music.
One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back
or by pressing lightly in one direction or another.
It's as if two become one body, moving beautifully.
The dance takes surrender, willingness,
and attentiveness from one person
and gentle guidance and skill from the other.
My eyes drew back to the word Guidance.
When I saw "G" I thought of God, followed by "u" and "i".
"God, "u" and "i" dance."
God, you, and I dance.

The poet has evoled a poetic philosophy from the word Guidance , a new meaning to dance .

I appreciate the ability of a reader to capture the meaning of a very abstract line of thought. Dance is a movement through space, time and energy and involves movement transitions and multiple transformations of the body to complete a recognizable movement. For example, a pirouette in the fourth position is actually a combination of five smaller movements. So many simply only see the spin. Guidance is a process and not an act. Since the storyline of the poem pairs the narrator with God (whom is more powerful than he or she is); they are trusting God to lead them. Trusting God in the context of life reminds me of dance improvisation classes where one person mirrored the other person, but in discrete patterns. Facing away from each other, with only our backs touching, we had to synchronize movement at various spatial levels. When synchronizing ones life to the intention of God, one must be ameneable to both learning, trust and confluence. Otherwise, the end result is that the person is moving in a askew direction, away from the pathway of the movement itself. One must trust the leader and follow, and in order to truly envision the beauty of the relationship, seek to flow uniformly. We see how beautiful the end result can be when another can assist in the formation of your own personal "shape". I am employed in education (non-dance related), the word guidance is often described as a process, where a person entrusts another indiviual to form thier own shape of character, as well as skills. Yet in order to truly apply the beauty of God's instruction, I had to think back to dance. It was then that I truly understood and opened up to the realizations that are told to you, the reader in this poem.

Dea onherise , 1984 thank you.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.
