So everyone take a bow.. We are the poets of the 21st Century!!!!!! Last edited by WordSlinger 01-27-2011 at 03:09:30 AM |

RE: The Death Of Original Poetry RIPI am so sad and I don't understand how this could happen on OP. I have been inspired by so many people here and can't think of one bad thing to say. I can't imagine OP not in my life. I needed the poetic interaction and encouragement of other poets to share with me in my journey and I in theirs. I don't want OP to stop, I have so much to learn and so much to give, yet. I know there is so much out their we can all learn from each other on OP. We are a family of dreamers, writers, passionate lovers, teachers, students and masters of the pen. |

RE: The Death Of Original Poetry RIPchange is coming as it always should, without change true growth would not be possible, rather than fight it, bitch about it, complain about it, whine about it, lets embrace it and see what the horizon holds as the future is nearly upon us, we are the living history of poetry in the making... In truth even death makes the begining of something new... Purity of the soul, journey well!!! with grace and humility ANGEL |

The rumor is that OP will be closing its eyelids forever sometime in April 2011 and this virtual poetry altar with its literary articulation, with its great big digital mouth, with its harmonious vocal chords and human poems will fade into cyber space alone, cold and dead. I refuse to be sad because I am not a newborn to reality, time or death, and as Siddhartha was known for saying: All Things Must Pass. And so too must Original Poetry. My joy comes from my faith in myself and in my personal relationship with the natural elements of the universe, and not from a virtual-socializing WEB Site. I have been a member since its conception in the Fall of 2008, joining this Site because it offered more that just posting poems; the competition drew me in along with the idea of possibly being published in an Anthology: Since being here I have won three Anthology prizes and have been picked-up by a small press publisher who has been on this Site for over a year now. I have both taught people and learned from people on this Site and have derived great pleasure in the friends and lovers that I now have and will carry-on with after the demise of OP. People from all over the world have been buying my poetry book, In Forbidden Language, and with out OP this would not have been possible in such a short time. My memories are many, my friends are many, and I have composed some of my best poetry here because of their influence on my thoughts, feelings and emotions, and I am forever grateful to all of my friends, lovers and even those of you who have sent me disturbing hate mail for my disbelief in God, religion or any other synthetic dogma that wants to control the free-will of humanity. Even though OP may be leaving it will always remain in the memories of those who shared the joy of being here, and long after the screen is empty it will continue to be a part of our happiness especially for those of us who knew how to enjoy it both in giving to it and receiving from it. I gave and received to this virtual literary community and because of this I AM a happy man. Peace and Light, dah P.S. I will stay until the end, ‘til the screen goes blank. My FaceBook Contact: dah helmer MY Photography Web Site: www.flickr.com/photos/dahlusion I will also be posting YouTube readings of my poetry sometime in the future. |

RE: The Death Of Original Poetry RIPOriginal poetry lives in us all, whether we are just spectators or we actively produce what we think is poetry. There can never be an end to creativity. I hope this door remains open, but a lot of mice have left this ship already. I for one plan to go down with the ship, but I'm not wearing my life vest because I learned to swim on my own years ago. If it happens ,I'll tread water and keep on writing any way. |

RE: The Death Of Original Poetry RIPStudly, more than anybody else on this website used to give me the most helpful in-depth critiques (and some of the lowest ratings) I have had. And you know what, I want it to be that way. I'd rather have one 7 or 8 rating accompanied by an honest critique than 50 "10" ratings accompanied by compliments and no critical feedback at all. |

I'll be here till it goes offline, if it does. This place has been my haven for at least 2years now. I have history here, so many friends made that I'd lose if the site goes down. But, I have hope for Hope is my name. If this site does sink into the internets eternal death, then I want all of you that I knew to know that I will miss you very much. If I don't already have you added my facebook link is: http://www.facebook.com/theonewhowillstaystrong and my email is: kalakoala2@yahoo.com If you chose to add me or email me, put in the subject somewhere that you are from OP. Please and thank you. Because of this site I am now in the midst of putting together my own poetry book. And those that wish to read it I will keep updates of it as far as OP goes, until either OP goes down or my book is published. Thank you all whom have made a difference in my life! |

RE: The Death Of Original Poetry RIPi do not want to abbandon ship i love op and the community here but the world of open has indead become very dirty... the negativity here has spoiled the spirits of many and true there are many poets that are leaving... i have personally spoken with a few that are for sure leaving for one reason or another... i have seen some of the original poetry members pages have been hacked and thier poems are now gone or filled with undeciferable text... as much as it pains me to do so i think i might be leaving op as well... my poetry is far too important for me to allow it be hacked or worse by someone... i have enjoyed my time here and to those that i have connected with i will miss you... this is a matter of self preservation |

RE: The Death Of Original Poetry RIP OP has been a continuous stepping stone for me. I first became involved with Op in 1998 and was thrilled to find so many poets to lend me a hand. Since then I have won the Poet Of The Week twice and I owe much to others. I now have several of my poems published and look forward to having my children's book stories published. I will also continue to post poems on OP and will comment on poems written by my friends. |

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.
Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
