The Best Thing Ever Caught On Tape, Your Thoughts Please
This short film is about a piece of footage found by George Clarke behind the scenes in Charlie Chaplins film 'The Circus'. Attending the premiere at Manns Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, CA - the scene shows a large woman dressed in black with a hat hiding most of her face, with what can only be described as a mobile phone device - talking as she walks alone.
studying this film for over a year now - showing it to over 100 people and at a film festival, yet no-one can give any explanation as to what she is doing.
The only theory - as well as many others - is simple... a time traveler on a mobile phone. See for yourself and feel free to leave a comment on your own explanation or thoughts about it.

RE: The Best Thing Ever Caught On Tape, Your Thoughts Please
Yo,
I noticed this went viral over the weekend. 2-3 of my friends on facebook even posted it. Here are my thoughts and reaction:
1. There were no cell towers back then, how could the phone be functional? Even if I took my iPhone back to 1995, it wouldn't work because the technology was different.
2. It looks like a normal handset from a phone from that era to me. I wonder if its just someone walking around being funny, or using one of those radio type phone things the military used back then.
After I thought of #2, I did some research...
The first practical wireless phone was invented in 1912 in Japan by Dr. Torigata Uichi. Radio telephone service was in use in many countries for decades, but the few frequencies licensed over wide geographies limited availability.
So, it probably was a wireless phone from that era. It would make sense actually. Only the very rich of their time would be able to acquire such a thing. Hollywood has always been a place where new tech is spread and used to be indirectly promoted. In the video you can't tell if there's a cord on the end of it or not, and the bag portion of it is probably tucked under her coat.
I wondered if this guy is trying to use this to promote himself more, or if he really is confused. After seeing it spread so rapidly, I'm convinced it was a promotional stunt.
