Re: How Can We All Get Caught In Print? A Must Read!Quote: They definitely need something new and fresh. The newspaper's biggest mistake was not moving to the internet in the first place. Their second mistake was to not give away the paper for free to everyone in their coverage area. Had they done those, they could have boosted the amount of ad revenue. Now that they've finally moved to the internet, and are cutting home delivery and things like that, they need to find new ways to beef up their offering. Not just have a paper in the form of a web site. I could see something like Poetry contributing to this. I'm sure some papers cover events that include poetry, but maybe there needs to be more focus? -Papa Paczki |

Good poetry haunts the reader. Bad poetry haunts the writer. Putting Down Poets like me,and -----------Leroy I want to say more but a war will start, lol I have the match and Leroy has the gas can, lol WS I'm for the little poets. the unknowns... We the 21st Century Poets of OP... your nemisis is nothing but a monument to short-sighted isgnoance carved from a solid block of hindsight-bias. What was Poe? For a good part of his life he was a dirt poor drunkard with the worst luck in the world who ws kicked out of West Point. He sold "the Raven" for $13 (not much in our money either). He went out much the same way. Dickinson ( now heralded as a heroine of American literature) was as "unknown" as one can get, and would have been should her wishes have been granted. Van Gough never sold a painting (maybe one) while he lived. What was every giant of literature before they got lucky (for success in art is more a matter of chance and luck than talent)? unknown. what were gorillas before white men "verified" them? myths, nothing more than tribal lore. All true poetry has something to offer. I will reluctantly agree that not all online unknown poetry is magnificant and worthy for a publishing deal, but on this medium it is a valuable asset. Anyone who thinks as he does really has lost touch with Poetic Reality and the facet of Art inplace of commercial value. Let us Arise! Riot! Revive! We are the 21st Century Poets of OP. If the 20th century taught us anything, it is that poetry and music are the subconcious, concious, and conscience of culture, and people united in culture can do anything. In 50 years: from gliders to the moon. |

Does this web site say every writer??? PetitionNewspaper Poetry: Pleading with an Industry NEW-EPISODES-POETRY & POETS http://boards.history.com/topic/New-Series/New-Episodes/800027505 ========================================================= IF YOU BUILD THEY WILL COME... Hello my fellow poets and friends. I thought I'd write this for our fellowship in poetry, and reciting means. I really enjoy reading your poetry. Poetry is all I ever had besides my faith, and here at the web site is very entertaining and fun. Also very educating, and inspiring. We know life is short, sometimes sour and sometimes sweet. I think with positive effort we can build a foundation at the website for ourselves and future poets. Poetry is a means I'm sure for yourself to heal and motivate your feelings and health. I believe you have your own personal fans before the website. So I want to encourage you to encourage them to visit the site as well. I would also like to encourage you to let important people, like journalists, teachers, preachers, and people with respect for the arts know about the site. You get the idea... I also believe you can promote your own web site in many ways. Email magazines and publishers about your web page. These are just ideas, so we have a new modern/ stronger foundation for the art of poetry. So I ask you to get creative. I wish the best for you in life, and it is very pleasant to have you in the present. Your friend, and fellow poet John E. WordSlinger P.S. This would be your web site http://www.originalpoetry.com/poet/YOURNAME and your poems link would be http://www.originalpoetry.com/poet/YOURNAME/poems HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Anyone who says one person can’t make a difference has never heard the story of the Statue of Liberty. http://www.neatorama.com/2007/05/31/the-true-story-of-the-statue-of-liberty/ http://www.neatorama.com/2007/05/31/the-true-story-of-the-statue-of-liberty/ Last edited by WordSlinger 10-28-2009 at 09:41:47 PM |

Re: How Can We All Get Caught In Print? A Must Read!In addition to just putting poetry in the paper, maybe use it to connect local poets, artists, musicians, and writers. That way everyone can share, mix, connect, and develop in little circles and comunities. |

I think that way poets can connect while turing on more people. anyone dig? Every poet and citizen who appreciates the art has an opportunity and obligation as well to assist. The newspapers depend upon its readers. Share your voices of concern so that the press realizes that we the poets of originalpoetry.com are not alone in their desire to see poetry in the news again. You can do so by contacting your local poetry editor and requesting a poetry article be developed, or, if you're creatively (and financially inclined) start a poetry column of your own from your own small newspaper press. Let the voice of the people be heard in the art of poetry and thrive once again in the newspapers! |

WHAT ARE THE COMMERCIAL ADVANYADES? I followed this link. Thanks for the enlightenment. Can you carefully examine the feasibility of entrusting to Writers Literary Agency, our JOINT ANTHOLOGY, to sell it for us, as soon as we have finished compiling the manuscript? I feel there is a catch somewhere, I trust that you may find the time to discover if it is to our advantage to use their aervice. With Lulu, we have to do our own marketing or pay a fee to them in advance, for them to market for us. Hey, read my ' CRUISE SHIP" You may be tempted to take a cruise one of these days. Re: How Can We All Get Caught In Print? A Must Read!I know it's been talked about before, but as a step towards the "chapbooks" ( a GREAT idea, btw) we could give poets the option of organizing their poems into collections or volumes. This would make a poet's work more accsessible, as we all know: there is only so much room in the margin "poet's other poems" thing, and some recent work is left out... |
In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.
