For My Bestest Friend

Friendship is something to hold on to.
But for me thats not the case.
Cause i dont feel i need to keep.
Something that cant be earased.

I am sure of what i have.
Cause with you i have no dought.
For what we've built, could never fail.
It's what i care about.

I find it hard to describe.
This thing that we share.
exspecially when theres nothing else.
that ever could compare.

others always know.
That together we will be.
For there could never be another.
"Angel and Dana".

Those two words, known all over.
Might as well be one.
Cause without a Angel, there is no Dana.
I'm sorry it just cant be done.
For your the "u", And im the "s".
And forever that will be.
Cause together we make "US". And so you.
"COMPLETE ME".

Dear poptart, // If I had read this poem last month, I would have seen what a well-crafted piece of poetry it is; and I would have seen and felt the spirit of love and friendship that you breathed into it. And I would have rated it a 10, And that would have been that. // All of those things are true now. But now, there is so much sorrow in me, that would not have been for me, a month ago. My bestest friend died the morning of January 18. My heart is broken, no, shattered. He was the best of all my best friends, and there will never be another like him. Your description here fits us so well. We were so close, that sometimes some people thought we were or might be a gay couple. But we were both straight guys. Yet we loved each other, and had no trouble expressing and showing our love. We were more than friends. He was the brother of my soul. He was the "u" and I was the "s" that made "us," as you so eloquently and powerfully express it here in this magnificent poem. // I only wrote one tribute poem for here while he was alive. That's "The Best Person I Ever Knew: My Best Friend Brian." Then, when he died--because a hospital doctor killed him--I wrote in love and grief my poem "My Bestest Friend: Or, Dying and Doctors and Callousness and Love." // I wish I had found this poem of yours while Brian was alive (he was killed by his hospital doctor, he didn't die from his cancer--that would have left him at least several more months, maybe a year or more). If I had found this poem while Brian was sitll with me, I would have printed it out and shown it to him. And I would said: "Read this poem, Brian. It's us." // Thank you for writing this. It exceeds in excellence many of the poems about love and friendship I have read by the acknowledged greats in poetry. I believe this poem should place you in the pantheon of great poets. --Michael LP, Mr. Poet

its always nice to hol onto friendsship , being able to share everythign with someone special and knowing they will always listen.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.
