Clean and Sober
I've been clean and sober twenty plus years,
before, there were many tears.
Mom I'm sorry that I kept you awake, you worried,
my life was at stake.
It took several years for the daily want to go away,
now helping others is how I stay away.
The memories are vivid, as if it happened yesterday,
in and out of jail, thats no way to play.
Along the way there were several that died,
still I did not heed, Mom still cried.
I've learned in was not me that kept me alive,
God knows, many times I should have died.
I know why I was kept alive,
to show others how to live with pride.
Thank you God for saving my life, I will,
I PROMISE, show others the light.....
