    An Early Escape

A thought had crossed my mind bringing a vision of you
a waterfall and a stream, both crystal clear
    deer prancing through the woods
it is a crisp autumn day.

The sun is bright though cheeks are chilled
we can see our breaths with each exhale
    rising and then it disappears.

We strool hand in hand enjoying nature's peace
a serene moment for us to share
away from the masses as turbulent as a sea.

I lay our blanket upon a bed of leaves
    we sit and then lay
    we hold and we kiss
relaxing until the time comes to go.

Back in the city now, still hand in hand
engulfed in the turmoil of society's madness
blending into the crowds and moving with the tide.

    Everything becomes hectic
    but still we smile
our memories of earlier this day will last an entire lifetime.
