    All I Have in Me

All I have in me, all I wish to share.

And this is more than anything I could wish for.

I have a feeling of being the best,

To be the giving and receiving; if love is about sharing.

I just want to be a dear; the most caring.

All that is in me is so fragile like a glass cup,

Breaking me is like killing me softly with excruciating pain.

And here is my weakness that seems like a curse.

I know am filled with love like a glass cup filled with water.

I don't want to hurt anybody but vise versa has been my portion.

All I have in me is all I want to protect; but can't.

    How can I protect a feeling I can't hold.

Right through my chest it keeps pounding; the only thing I can't control,

And I wonder as I ponder, If it only me feeling so,

or is there someone around this earth that feels same.

Else all I have in me is just a dream.

Then all I have in me that is to share,

and all that is in me that is fragile than a glass cup,

Plus all I have in me that is all I want to protect.

Is just a mere dream covering me like a body cream.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
