A Real Mother
It takes more than giving birth
To call yourself a mother
Because if there’s one thing I know
That child’s needs comes before any other
You call yourself a mother
When in fact that’s far from true
Because a real mother knows
Exactly what she must do
A real mother is always there
And she hears her baby cry
And when he’s sick and in pain
She would never leave his side
She would hold him in her arms
And wipe away his tears
But instead I was the one
Who gave him that care
You have the nerve to wonder
Why we share such a special bond
Could it simply be because
I was the one he could count on
Although he’s just a baby
He’s smarter than you could know
Because his instincts told him
I’d never let him go.
You say you love him
But I’m still yet to see
You won’t even take him to the dr.
Once again that’s left to me.
I’d give my life for this baby
And he’s not even my son
So can someone please tell me
What’s left to be done.
I know God will make a move
Whenever he feels the time is right
But I will not give up the faith
Not without a fight
It takes more than giving birth
To call yourself a mother
Just take it from me
Your child’s needs come before any other!!
