Words On Paper
Words on paper are much more than they seem,
And like the birds, they fly and careen.
Poetic minds and thoughts alike that start,
Aim none other than the reader's heart.
Deep and true the arrows strike,
Arrows of illusion, quite contrite,
Penetrating through the mind and soul,
Bypassing the common sense that we all know,
And tickling our hearts and wisdom and mind,
Stamping in the brains that we've left behind,
As we follow the whisper we cannot see,
In order to understand the meaning of such a thing.
A doctor can prescribe medicine for the sick,
And may know the formulas and every trick,
But cannot grasp the feeling of fullfilment,
Nor can any understand the mind of a poet,
For words on paper with ambiguous meaning
Lead many a reader to foggy dreaming.
